Available for PreSale!
Authors: Ronald Stoyan and Uwe Glahn
The same team who created the interstellarum Deep Sky Atlas and the interstellarum Deep Sky Guide, Desk Edition presents this wonderful companion, interstellarum Deep Sky Guide, Field Edition, printed on special laminated water-resistant foil paper for use while observing out in the field.
Stoyan and Glahn carefully selected objects from the Deep Sky Atlas, presenting them as colored composite Palomar Observatory Sky Survey II (POSS) plates or their own sketches so you can estimate the visibility of features in the telescope while planning observations. Stars and other objects in the vicinity are highlighted, also serving as finder charts at night. Each spread includes an index map so you can quickly find each object’s location in the Deep Sky Atlas.
Features:
• 2,362 deep-sky objects with catalog number, object type, constellation, nickname, and short description, along with observational hints such as filter and magnification recommendations.
• 1,729 color finder charts using red and blue channels of POSS plates on a white background (red features are visible in white light but become invisible under red light conditions, as perceived through the eyepiece).
• 821 detailed pencil drawings presented in black-on-white provide the best approximation of what may be seen visually.
• Page numbers are identical to the charts in the Deep Sky Atlas for quick and easy navigation.
The interstellarum Deep Sky Guide takes all the hassle out of preparing for observing sessions— there’s no need to print star charts or photos—simply grab your Atlas and your Guide and go observe!
