Advanced Observing: Visual Mysteries of the Universe is based upon the popular Texas Star Party’s (TSP) Advanced Observing Programs. The three books cover the spring, summer, and fall night sky with two main goals: Firstly, to find obscure, deep-sky objects, and secondly, to learn about them.

The books include 200 deep-sky objects along with several easy-to-follow detailed finder charts. By carefully following a method known as star-hopping, the amateur astronomer can follow a pathway to locate objects without resorting to a computer system.

After guiding observers to the targets in question, the book shares interesting details to enhance the experience. If an object is faint in a telescope and that is all one knows, then it is not too interesting. But if the reader learns it is 35 million light-years away, is interacting with another galaxy, and is full of star-forming regions that can be seen in backyard telescopes, then it becomes intriguing. Details are provided for each object, including the latest scientific data.

“There are no other astronomy books like these and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have in creating them.”
